For the most
part black folks treat each other respectfully online. It’s out in the street-
where we have all the problems. The anonymity of the internet allows people to
be whoever they want.
On Thursday night you hit ‘like’ and ‘repost’
the info that comes across your news feed from your favorite Internet scholar;
whom you’ve never met in person.
On Friday night you and your boys beat down
and shoot some brother who accidentally stepped on your new Jordans . You didn’t know it at the time but
the unidentified black male you just killed was the scholar from Facebook and Twitter you always admired and referred to as ‘king.’
If you wonder
why you don’t see some of your old internet friends posting all that good
knowledge anymore, it could be because you gunned him down one Friday night
without even knowing it-all because he stepped on your f*cking sneakers.
